Travel information for boats going to the Bahamas
Engine system and parts are hard to obtain in the islands. Please make sure that you have spare equipment for your boats, including:

VHF radio
GPS
Depth sounder
Radar (optional)

To avoid paying duties on foreign-made items that you own and are bringing in with you, please register them with customs before you leave the US. Examples are laptops, cameras, watches, and other digital devices identified with serial numbers. Or bring a sales receipt to show that you owned it before entering the Bahamas.

Customs and Official Info
The US requires that anyone entering the Bahamas must have a current passport. If you are a US citizen and your boat is registered in the US, you will need to have a customs decal.

All boats pay an entry fee: boats up to 35 ft--$150.00; boats over 35 ft--$300.00 (the fee covers a vessel and 4 people). The flat fee covers the cruising permit, customs/immigration charges, fishing , and $15.00 departure tax for up to 4 persons. Each additional person will be charged $15.00.
