How do you build inshore and shallow-water boats with the structural integrity usually found in yachts? This was the question that started CEO Bob Dougherty and President Stephen Dougherty's obsession for creating the perfect boat. Prior to founding Everglades Boats, Bob Dougherty and Stephen Dougherty constructed windshields and small parts for EdgeWater PowerBoats and Boston Whaler. They also built hardtops for Pro-Line, Mako Marine, Stamas Yachts and other boat manufacturers. Of course, these were no ordinary hardtops - these were hardtops constructed with RAMCAP technology, a manufacturing process that delivers premier quality and performance, a process that the Doughertys created and patented. Bob and Stephen eventually extended the use of the RAMCAP process to other parts, including hulls, which ultimately led to the their first fully-constructed boat: the EdgeWater 14, winner of the 1999 NMMA Innovation Award. After spending a number of years building boats for other manufacturers, the Doughertys decided it was time to build an even better boat - an Everglades Boat. You could say, "The rest is history." But, really, the rest is making history. Making history, as in building a full line of boats using the new and patented RAMCAP construction process, which makes Everglades Boats unsinkable. Making history, as in building versatile, family-friendly fishing boats with an unparalleled number of innovative features. Along with the 1999 NMMA Innovation Award, the Doughertys won the 2002 NMMA Innovation Award and the 2005 NMMA Innovation Award for Everglades boats. In other words, Bob and Stephen Dougherty have made innovation a standard feature. |
