Industrial Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician you will be required to perform tasks involved in the upkeep of the buildings and grounds, installation, maintenance, maintaining and repairing of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment and building. Will be required to effectively interact with; employees, supervisors and internal department personnel. The technician is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow Everglades’s standards for safety and conduct.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Must have ability to methodically trouble shoot issues on hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment and have the ability to work independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs.
    • Must have working knowledge and repair experience on hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Performs scheduled PMs and visually inspect and test assigned machines and equipment for proper functionality.
    • Must have experience in the repair and maintenance of fiberglass lamination equipment systems, to include adhesive application equipment.
    • Perform repairs on production equipment when a malfunction has been detected.
    • On a daily basis, receives assigned work order to complete on equipment.  
    • Upon completion of work, enters appropriate information onto daily worksheet
    • Maintain a working knowledge of processes and equipment in the facility.
    • Perform equipment installations/moves and building maintenance tasks as needed.
    • Respond to all radio calls for Maintenance issues or request in a timely manner. 
    • Maintain the shop and job site in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
    • Must be able to work overtime and respond to plant off hour’s emergencies as required. 
    • Consistently demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance, Ability to manage time in an efficient manner.
    • Must ensure that a high level of safety is adhered to at all times on and off the production floor.
    • Must wear all required PPE properly

    The Technician may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor

Boat Laminator & Fiberglass Roller

Job Description

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient construction of fiberglass parts. Constructs parts through the correct application of fiberglass mat, bracing and chopped fiberglass. Ensures layers of fiberglass are correctly bonded through the use of hand rollers and other equipment. Adheres to safety requirements by properly handling chemicals and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • JOB DESCRIPTION:
    - Spray chopped fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto prepared molds or dies using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments.
    - Select precut fiberglass mats and parts as required by projects being assembled.
    - Pat or press layers of saturated mat or cloth into place on molds, using brushes or hands, and smooth out wrinkles and release air bubbles with roller, squeegee, or other tool.
    - Mix catalysts into resins, and saturate cloth and mats with mixtures, using brushes.
    - Apply layers of plastic resin to mold surfaces prior to placement of fiberglass mats, repeating layers until products have the desired thicknesses and plastics have jelled.
    - Check completed products for conformance to specifications and for defects checking to detect bubbles or dead spots.
    - Mask off mold areas which are not to be laminated, using cellophane, wax paper, masking tape, or special sprays containing mold-release substances.
    - Apply lacquers and waxes to mold surfaces to facilitate assembly and removal of laminated parts.
    - Check all dies, templates, and cutout patterns to be used in the manufacturing process to ensure that they conform to dimensional data, photographs, blueprints, samples, and/or customer specifications.
    - Inspect, clean, and assemble molds before beginning work.
    - Trim excess materials from molds, using hand shears or trimming knives.
    - Repair or modify damaged or defective glass-fiber parts, checking thicknesses, densities, and contours to ensure a close fit after repair.
    - Cure materials by letting them set at room temperature.
    - Trim cured materials by sawing them with diamond-cutoff wheels.

    Requirements
    - Experience working around Chemicals and/or handtool/painter/sprayer: 1 year
    - Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, reaching, bending over-for extended periods of time in a non-climate controlled factory environment.
    - Must wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times on the factory floor. This will include: safety glasses, dust masks, gloves, and chemical resistant suits.
    - Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast paced, noisy environment.
    - Expected to work overtime and some Saturdays.
    - Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.

This position is responsible for ensuring the high quality, finished appearance of fiberglass parts by adhering to safe and efficient finishing practices.  This position improves the appearance of parts by sanding and buffing surfaces using various compounds, hand and power tools.   Adheres to safety requirements by properly handling chemicals and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.      

  • Responsibilities:

    Adheres to all company safety policies and requirements

    Properly handles, uses and disposes of chemicals 

    Operates power tools safely

    Identifies areas on parts in need of sanding or buffing

    Applies paint or gel coat

    Maintains a clean work area to ensure high quality finished product

    Keeps storage areas clean and organized

    Protects finished products from damage

    Ensures finishing equipment is maintained in good working order

    Performs other duties as assigned

     

    Requirements:
